“A NEWINSTITUTION, YETWITH A LEADING ROLE IN ITS FIELD

Integrated as a member in the Council of Europe’s Network of Schools of
Political Studies, the “Ovidiu Sincai” European School was established in
Bucharest, Romania in 2004 and has ever since carried on one of the most
important missions of the Council of Europe: that of strengthening
democracy, human rights and the rule of law in the biggest country of South-
East Europe. Founded at the initiative of Adrian Severin – President of the
Advisory Board and also member of the European Parliament –at a time when
Romania was negotiating its integration in the European Union, the School
has responded to an essential need in the political development of the country,
since back then Romania was the only country from the Eastern European
region where the Council of Europe’s Political School was missing.
While the management of the School has only one political colour, the
mission of this initiative is to actually recruit on an annual basis 40
participants coming from different professional and political backgrounds, in
order to create the proper framework for experience
