How did you meet the Schools of Democracy?
I had been invited several times to speak at the political Schools. Initially I
didn’t know anything about the program. I thought these were university
students, so I was not that interested. It’s not that I don’t like speaking to
students. I taught for many years! It just was not a high priority for me.
But then when I went there, I think in 2006, to the meeting in Strasbourg,
it was a revelation to me, because I realised that the students that were at these
Schools were precisely the people that needed this kind of programme! They
were also precisely the people who could
