NATIONAL REPORT OF HUNTING LAW: UNITED KINGDOM

Clare Shine.

INTRODUCTION
This paper summarises the hunting legislation which is in force in England
and Wales. Many of these legal provisions also apply to Northern Ireland and
Scotland, but certain subjects (such as deer and fishing in Scotland) are
regulated by different laws1.
The term "hunting" has been interpreted widely to cover all field sports
which involve the taking of wild animals, from the shooting and stalking of
game, wildfowl and deer to hunting with hounds, coursing hares, falconry and
fishing.
