Recent research on the impact of the ED's Eastward Enlargement in the
domestic politics of the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC)
has focused on institutional and economic restructuring, adoption of the
acquisammunautaire and party politics, with little attention to the implications
for civil society dynamics and the development of organised interest
aggregation and representation. In fact, the existing research and normative
frameworks for the study of the politics of intermediation in the CEEC is
characterised for being scarce and fragmented; for lacking comparative
analysis and neglecting the transnational arena2. The aim of this article is to
