From the point of view of the evolution of the relations between central authorities and local or regional structures in 20th century Romania, we think that we are facing an unsuccessful attempt of central power to impose its own vision to organise space, whether speaking of the interwar period, the communist period or the period after 1989. On the one hand, we see that identity reflection of historical space and perceived space has been gradual to this day. It has been preserved due to introversion and lived in latent form. On the other hand, centralising instruments represented by administrative-territorial structures introduced by the four administrative reforms (1925, 1938, 1948, 1968) just like the established contact areas (for instance, migration from overpopulated and underdeveloped areas to deserted and developed areas) brought about the establishment of new more or less active identities....
