The present social order in Western societies is dominated by a
patriarchal logic what constitutes a high hurdle on the path for building
down gender stereotypes, imaginaries, social representations, practices and
the socially considered natural sexual division of work, that is to say, an
unequal distribution of the familiar-domestic and market work according to
sex. The mentioned patriarchal system has been reviewed by many social
theorists such as Heidi Hartmann, Pierre Bourdieu, Margaret Maruani or
Laura Balbo, but also by recent studies from the European Union showing
